Light plays a major role in the work of Hannie Rieuwerts. The nice cool Dutch winter light, but also the sweltering summer sun in the city. Backlight and light from the low-hanging sun (which gives beautiful long shadows) is a favorite in her paintings.
Hannie Rieuwerts is not only an artist but also a teacher in drawing and watercoloring and she gives workshops in the Netherlands and abroad. She is chairman of IWS Holland (International Watercolor Society)
She exhibits at home and abroad.

Petersburg (Russia), New Dehli (India), Jamshoro (Pakistan), Prague (Czech Republic) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). In Pakistan she has been awarded for her work with a Hardship Award and in Prague with an Appreciation Award
