Philip Vencken, working as architect and artist, was born in 1950 in Singapore, studied architecture and urban design at the Architects Association Ireland in Dublin, Ireland and at the Technical University in Delft, The Netherlands.
During a scholarship year he attended l’ Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris for 16 months to study and develop his fascination for painting and drawing. Philip paints and draw for as long as he can remember.
The interaction of both worlds – that of the architect and of the painter – stimulates his creativity and gives him the opportunity to reflect on the hectic world of architecture and real estate from a proper distance. His paintings, oil on canvas, are dynamic and tactile in which is a good sense for composition of colour with harmony and balance. In this exhibition in the NH Leeuwenhorst Conference Hotel , Philip Venckens oil painting from 2009 till 2014 will be shown.
During the last year he has developed a style with mixed techniques. These works are mostly on paper. The works are a combination of spray, collage, indian ink, plaster and paint. At restaurant Frenzi (Amsterdam) these works will be presented.
