Wafae Boundy-el Houari, January 23, 1969 Morocco.
In Morocco i have studied 3 years at a school for ceramics and then worked for 9 years for a pottery cooperative. Here I learned the basic techniques of painting. I came to the Netherlands in 2008 where i married. After I lost my mother and also my husband died I was feeling very depressed. In the beginning of 2018 I discovered that abstract painting turned out to be a good way to express my emotions and feelings. I started on paper and then developed myself further on tissue through self-study.
My main source of inspiration are faces of women, which I see in all kinds of places and are therefore the red line in my paintings. The woman plays an important role in the society because she is responsible for the education of her children. In this way she contributes to a better world. This is want i to convey with my paintings.
I mainly work with acrylic paint on paper and canvas, but also use other methods, such as paper marbling. Also i like to play with different shapes and color combinations.
