
Biography
During her long travels she started taking photographs. Her photography became better known, especially after her trip to Iran in 1999. Iran Air purchases five of her works and she exhibits several times in the exhibition 'Impressions of Iran'.
After one of her trips to Iran, she comes into contact with a pilot. This is how she ends up in the maritime world. She receives an assignment from the Pilotage Service to record the pilots' last sailing day. In 2007 she was nominated with three photos for the Port of Amsterdam's photo competition 'The port works'. She wins first prize. In the same year, due to the 10th anniversary of the Pilotage Service, she was asked to publish a book for the IJmond region. In 2008 the book 'Through the eye of a pilot' was published. An exhibition of the same name followed in the Stopera and in the IJmuider Sea and Harbor Museum.
In 2009, she was commissioned by the DelfSail Foundation to take photos of the maritime event together with other photographers and contributed to the book DelfSail 2009, De Sail met het 'Warme Hart'. In 2010 she was nominated with one photo and received third prize for the photo competition 'Port of Amsterdam, where worlds meet'. In 2012 she received an honorable mention for two photos for the photo competition 'Masterplan North Sea Canal Area'. In the same year she won the third prize of the photo competition 'Port of Amsterdam, the colorful port'. In 2013, she was commissioned by the Sail Den Helder Foundation to photograph the maritime event and the book 'Sail Den Helder 2013' together with other photographers. She has exhibited several times. In 2015 she received an honorable mention for a photo for the photo competition 'Present and past of the North Sea Canal Area'.
Her photos have been included in various publications and books. She recently contributed to the exhibition 'Leap over 't IJ', which is currently on display at the IJ-Plein in Amsterdam. The exhibition has also resulted in the publication 'Sprong over 't IJ', which is for sale at the Amsterdam Architecture Center.
If she has to describe herself in a few words, she will simply choose the expression 'photographic storyteller'. As such, she loves to be an observer of real life, light and emotion. For her, real beauty lies in simplicity and naturalness, the real feeling.
